Lacrosse is among the countries fastest growing sports (and contrary to popular belief, not just played by 15 year old public school girls), the sport is fast-paced, energetic but most importantly heaps of fun and very easy for beginners to pick up. It is essentially a team sport and teamwork is a vital aspect for success. The Bristol University Lacrosse club has enjoyed much success over the last few seasons, including a creditable second place in last years league, and a tour to Dublin over the Easter vacation. Central to the clubs beliefs are team spirit, and a fun and very active social side. Unlike many of Bristol Universities other successful sports we encourage socialising just as much as training.
The Mixed Club was founded in 1998, and has gone from strength to strength to become what it is today. We currently have over 200 members, but are still welcome at any point in the academic year new members, irrespective of skill level. We play competitively in both the West league and the West cup.
The Bristol Mens Lacrosse team a.k.a Bristol Sharks, established in the 2004/05 season, is a relatively new part of the club. From the 2005/06 season we have started competing as a force to be reconned in the West league and the minor Flags cup, and came 3rd in the B.U.S.A. national tournament in 2007/2008. As with mixed, new comers are always welcome at any point of the season.
For more information on either of the disciplines please explore the sites Mixed and Men's sections. Check out the forum for general club banter.
